Wades Extruder with BfB Hot-end

On my in progress Mendel, i wanted to have nice Extruder. A little research showed that many people are successfully using Wades extruder and report say it has a massive filament pulling force. But all hot-ends i saw on those didnt look very stable, compared to the nice BfB Hot-end on the repman. So i decided i want to use the BfB hot-end, or a similar selfbuilt hot-end on Wades extruder.

For this needed to modify the main extruder block. You can see pictures of that here:

The extruder mounted with a BfB hot-end to test the fit:

You can find the model of this modification on thingiverse here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3015

As the Hot-end is much bigger then most Hot-ends used on mendel, i also had to modify the carriage. Fortunatly someone already redesigned the carriage with openscad. So it was relativly easy to cut-out a cylinder and a triangle. You can see pictures of that here:

And with the Hot-end, to test that it really fits:

You can find the models of this also at thingiverse under:

The next step would be to make a slightly bigger version of the carriage and a mirrored Wades extruder, so i could mount two of those on Mendel. But thats the future.

 • I will definately try to duplicate your efforts
on the MinMendle :)
I´m also a fan of the BfB-Hotend. The 40W
for heating is a bit low but that may be improved easily.
