Printupy 3D printer now available for pre-order

2PrintBeta proudly presents the Printupy Desktop 3D Printer - a standalone complete system with modern 3D printing technology. Now available for pre-order !

Our lastest 3D printer will be shipped as a complete machine with a nice acrylic case and a rigid aluminium frame. It has an integrated power supply and a nice display unit to control the 3D printer. It can print from USB and from SD card, so you can use it standalone on your desk.

For extra precision this machine uses screw-on linear bearings and all axes are driven by steppermotors and T2.5 belts. The core of the 3D printer is the autonomous Echinus board, which can simultaneously control up to 6 steppermotors, and its nice Echinus Vision control system.

It is equipped with one or two precision manufactured nozzles for perfect control of the printed pastics. In the dualx version, the two extruders are mounted on two seperately moving carriages, so that the currently not active printhead can be safely parked on one side. The firmware makes sure that those two heads automatically switch positions when needed.

With this system you can print either with two different colors, or, use different materials in both printheads to print with support material or objects which combine soft and sturdy plastics.

For the Z axis, this printer uses an innovative method to make sure there are no errors introduced by not perfectly straight lead screws. This printer uses timing belts for the Z axis, so this axis gets pulled up and perfectly straight, which ensures that all printed layers are placed perfectly onto each others. This greatly improves the print quality as you can see in the object below.

The machine also has an integrated heated printbed so you can print with ABS, PLA, SoftPLA, Laywoo-D3 or any of the other new 3D printing materials. It's maximum printing speed will be up to 100mm/s and you can tune the Z resolution down to 50µm to get extra precision for your object.

The machine will be available with 3 different nozzle orifices (0.5mm, 0.35mm and 0.25mm) from which you can choose to adjust the printing speeds and the printing quality to your needs.

You can now pre-order this system in our shop at: and we plan our first delivery at the beginning of february 2014. The machine will cost 1200€ for the single extruder version and 1500€ for the dual extruder version.

New 3D Printer model

2PrintBeta proudly presents: The "Printupy" 3D desktop printer

diagonal-1 web

This is a complete new 3D printer model, based on the prototype "BetaProtoMobile", which we showed this spring on the MakeMunich as well as in our blog.

The system is similar to the "BetaProtoMobile": It comes with a belt for the z-axis instead of a threaded rod. The y-axis is like the one of the "wallace" or the "printrbot" since it is light, reliable and uses a very short timing belt. X-axis and extruder are made like the well know Prusa - we even used the same carriage with a wades extruder.

Brand new is the dual extrusion system using two x-carriages instead of one, like many other multiple extruder 3D printer systems. This has the great advantage that you can park the second extruder besides the printing area so that it cannot scratch or squirt on the freshly printed layer of the object.

The pre-production model comes with a combination of a ATX power supply AND a battery. This way one can decide, wheather printing independently on a journey or plugged in at home. The battery is a 14V 17Ah LiFePO4 battery, able to supply two printheads and the heated bed for many hours - unlike in the "BetaProtoMobile, which only had a 6.9 Ah battery.

The series model will only run with the ATX power supply - the battery will be an optional accessory.

The whole chassis as well as the x-ends is lasercut in acrylic glass and POM. The frame is made of light and stable aluminium. All axes are running on screwable linear bearings. The Printupy electronics is the same as in the "BetaProtoMobile", equipped with a cool display and a SD-card reader, so one can print independently from the PC. All cables are in a cable chain or wrapped inside a flexible tube - no messy cables anymore. Everything is boxed in, so it looks smooth and is compact and save as well. Although based on opensource techniques, this 3D printer is no more a reprap, but a professional looking desktop accessory.

We will present the prototype on the EuroMold 2013 and are planning to release the series model right before christmas.
